Backup User Settings

Follow these steps to save your user settings.

  1. Open the Options menu.
  2. Select Backup User Settings.

Caution:

  • Make sure you save a good file and not a corrupt one. If you're having problems now is not the time to save a backup.

Restore User Settings

Follow these steps to restore your user settings if DDUtil won't start.

  1. Open the DDUtil install folder (usually C:\DDUtil).
  2. Execute (double-click) the "DeleteUserConfig.bat" file.
  3. Start DDUtil (will have default settings).
  4. Open the "Option" menu.
  5. Select the Restore User Settings item.
  6. DDUtil will restart with your restored settings installed.

Additional Notes

Notes on Restoring User Settings

  • Obviously, for the above procedure to work you will have had to save the user settings by selecting the Backup User Settings selection in the Option menu previously.
  • In the App Data directory (%APPDATA%\DDUtil) you will see 2 files (user.open & user.close). These files are also user settings files and are automatically created by DDUtil and have the following attributes:
    • The user.open file is updated when DDUtil is opened and overwrites the existing file. This file can be used to restore settings valid at startup and were not updated during the last DDUtil session. Use this file if; during a DDUtil session you make changes you want to recover from.
    • The user.close file is updated when DDUtil is closed normally and overwrites the existing file. This file reflects the settings in effect when DDUtil was last closed and is always the most up to date.
    • Either of these files can be copied and renamed to user.config.bak to replace the backup file in the %APPDATA%\DDUtil\Backup folder at any time.
