This page is particular to Radio Control Programs. See the Setup and How To sections for more information.

The following programs have been checked and are known to run with DDUtil. See the remarks area following the table for comments and discussions relating to the performance of some of these programs. Please report your findings with these and other programs so it can be listed here.

Column Definations

  • RCP1 indicates if the program is suitable to be the Master RCP. Must have ability to poll the radio for frequency and mode and behave well.
  • IF Only indicates if the IF Only check box should be checked. A ? indicates status is unknown.
  • No Poll indicates if the Disab Poll check box should be checked. A ? indicates status is unknown.

Discussion

The columns IF Only and No Poll require some discussion and clarification. These two controls affect the behavior of the RCP2~4 programs and some understanding of their function is necessary in order to get the best performance from DDUtil.

  • IF Only - Restricts all CAT commands but the IF command from being broadcast to the RCP port. Some RCP's are sensitive to other commands and must be protected from them else instability can result. If unchecked all commands from all RCP's will be received by this program. Some programs may work better with this control checked and some may not. See the compatibility table above for guidance. If the program you want to use isn't listed try it both ways and see what the results are.
  • No Poll - Stops the RCP from polling the radio for frequency, mode or any other information. It will NOT stop the RCP from sending Set commands to the radio. Meaning the RCP can tell the radio to change frequency, mode, etc. For DDUtil to function properly there must be one RCP polling for radio information, but more than one can be disruptive and can cause data collisions resulting in erratic behavior or worse.

References

  1. Works well as RCP1, but any other RCP's running must have their polling turned off. If used as RCP2~4 IF Only must be checked.
  2. WriteLog is sensitive to some other RCP's and has been reported to be sluggish and freeze at times.
